  • Vital Wildlife’s giraffe squeeze chute provides handlers and veterinarians the means to safely interact with giraffes without immobilizing drugs or general anesthesia. Handling, training, and administering veterinary care can be safely performed with the use of our giraffe restraint device.

Giraffe Africa

  • While our squeeze chute is customizable for each customer’s site and preferred design, our standard giraffe restraint device is fully featured. It includes digital scales and allows full body access to each giraffe through the use of 30 access doors. Each side has 11 doors and each end gate has 4 doors. One side of the squeeze chute pushes in to safely restrain the giraffe. To promote safety, forward motion into the chute, and decreased stress while standing inside, the squeeze chute does not have any overhead steel supports that a giraffe would have to pass under. With our restraining device it is possible to perform x-rays, ultrasounds, injections, vaccinations, tissue samples, blood draws, hoof trimming, newborn delivery, rectal palpation, cervical catheterization, etc from a safe and protected position.

  • While we offer a standard chute with all the options included, our focus is to build and install for each customer a giraffe restraint device that is safe, functional, and simple enough to provide for the needs of the giraffe and their caretakers. We will work with each facility to design a chute that fits the need without being extravagant. Additionally, feeders and penning systems are available to address the construction of a complete handling system.
